Kate Hampford Donahue of Trumbull is just the second woman in the organization’s history to hold the top spot.

“It is a distinct honor for me to work for such a distinguished board of directors representing business leadership in our region,” said President and CEO Mickey Herbert. “I, the entire board and BRBC staff look forward to Kate’s chairmanship.”

Donahue is president and CEO of Stratford-based Hampford Research, Inc., a family-owned, custom chemical manufacturing firm specializing in chemicals used in electronics, dental, cosmetics, engineered materials and printing/lithography industries.

She took the helm in 2007.

“My focus as chairman during the next two years will be on embarking on a strategic planning process to position the BRBC for long-term success, supporting the evolution of the BRBC affiliates and continuing to increase the diversity of our board of directors,” Donahue said.

Patrick McDonnell of UIL Holdings Corporation will serve as the organization’s new vice chair and Eric Hendlin of Dworken, Hillman, LaMorte & Sterczala continues to serve as the organization’s long-time secretary/treasurer.
