Groove On Over To Shelton For The 2017 Downtown Sounds Series

SHELTON, Conn. — Celebrate Shelton’s third annual Downtown Sounds concert series will bring groovy tunes and tasty bites to Veterans Memorial Park starting next week.

And this year, a portion of any proceeds raised through donations will go to the Lower Naugatuck Valley Boys & Girls Club.

"We are thrilled to continue this free summer concert series in downtown Shelton with a great musical lineup and an enjoyable place for families to gather each Friday evening,” said Jimmy Tickey, Celebrate Shelton co-creator.

The festivities begin Friday, July 21 with Jay Russell & the Split Coils and The Alpaca Gnomes. Friday, July 28 features Gracie Day & The Knights and Wise Old Moon and Creamery Station and Hubinger Street will round out the schedule on Aug. 4.

Each concert begins at 6 p.m. and this year Celebrate Shelton has added a pre-concert Kids Hour featuring Danny Magic, Sterling Theater Company and Bring the Hoopla. The evenings will run from 5 to 9 p.m.

Each night also offers a selection of food trucks, handmade artisans and a beer garden. This year’s vendors will include Pierogies on Wheels, Rita’s Italian Ice, Fryborg, Shoreline Prime Meats & Deli, Sal’s Pizza Truck, Dad’s Food Truck and Tipsy Cones.

The concerts are free, but there is a suggested donation of $5 to help sustain Celebrate Shelton. A portion will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club at season’s end.
