The market, complete with food, music and plenty of fresh produce, will be open each Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Oct. 12.
“The Bridgeport DSSD (Downtown Special Services District) is proud to produce the Downtown Farmers Market at McLevy Green,” said DDSD President Michael Moore. “Creativity takes many forms including food, music and performance art. The farmers market will serve to show off this creativity while welcoming visitors from throughout Bridgeport.”
Shoppers can expect many regular vendors from week to week, including Smith Acres Farm, Killam & Bassette Farmstead, A Pinch of Salt, Fortuna’s Catering Co., Granny’s Pie Factory, OM Pajamas and Sweet Cupcasions.
The season kickoff will include music by Grit Rhythm and special demonstrations by Aisha Nailah, Robin Gilmore of Made in Bridgeport and Iyaba Ibo Mandingo.
DSSD has partnered with the Bridgeport Farmers Market Collaborative to offer the BridgeportBucks Program, which involves coupons that can be used to buy fruits and vegetables at any of Bridgeport’s seven farmers markets.
Businesses and organizations may buy BridgeportBucks as incentives or rewards for clients, employees and community groups.
