SHELTON, Conn. — Wesley Village in Shelton was decked out wall-to-wall in the Christmas spirit for last weekend's TEAM Festival of Trees and Wesley Village Craft Fair.
For the event, holiday music filled the air, and the hallways were filled with tables of jewelry, handmade goods and other items for sale. A raffle and a bake sale took place, and food trucks were set up outside.
Around every corner was some sort of surprise, which made the 13th annual event special. It is held every year as a way to give back to many local charities.
Beth Nemis, coordinator for Wesley Heights, said it's a great way to start the holidays.
“Here at Wesley Heights, we host the Festival of Trees, which is a combination fundraise for TEAM, that is a local nonprofit, that helps local towns with low-income seniors,” Nemis said.
For the tag sale, volunteers spent time throughout the year preparing by sewing and knitting sweaters, blankets, hats, and much more. The bake sale was another highlight, along with raffles for several gift baskets filled with goodies.
“We have been having this event for 13 years now, and we’re proud to see the turnout of it each year. We see over 3,000 people, and it’s nice to see them enjoy the holiday spirit,” said Roger Spinelli, co-chair of TEAM. “It’s for a great cause."
