Firefighters Find Smashed SUV But No Driver At Route 8 Crash Scene

TRUMBULL, Conn. — Firefighters discovered a heavily damaged SUV at the scene of a reported rollover on Route 8 on Wednesday, but no driver was found, according to a Facebook post from the Nichols Fire Department.

At 5 p.m.,  the Nichols Fire Department along with the Trumbull Center Fire Department were dispatched to Route 8 southbound between exits 12 and 13 for a crash. 

Upon arrival, crews found a one vehicle with heavy damage to the front passenger side, the post said. 

No driver was found in or near the car, the post said. 

Squad 309 disconnected the car battery and remained on the scene for safety, the post said.
