Power Outages Increase As Rainstorm Pounds Fairfield County

With winds whipping upwards of 40 mph and a steady stream of rain pounding the area, hundreds of Fairfield County residents are in the dark after losing power due to the storm.

In total, 700 Eversource customers - including more than 200 in Fairfield County - were reporting outages throughout Connecticut as of noon the storm continues to rage in the region, leaving an increased number of residents without power.

Greenwich was hit hardest by the first phase of the storm, with 131 customers reporting outages. The rain is expected to last through the afternoon, with wind gusts reaching more than 40 mph at the peak of the storm, with rain expected to taper off at approximately 7 p.m.
