SHELTON, Conn. – The Shelton Police Department and mayor's office posted a reminder about the city's winter parking restrictions this week on the Police Department's Facebook page.
From January to the end of March, the city requires alternate-side parking. This means that residents are supposed to park on one side of the street depending on the month.
During January and March, residents can park on the odd-numbered side of the street, while they can park on the even side of the street in February.
No parking is allowed on streets where cars could interfere with snow removal.
When a snow emergency is called, no on-street parking is allowed if off-street parking is available.
Cars can be towed, and residents can be fined and charged with the cost of towing, as emergency vehicles will need clear roads to do their job.
The reminder also noted that residents are responsible for clearing snow and ice from public sidewalks around their property, and they're not allowed to put snow into public streets.
