Weismann, 45, who is a volunteer pilot with Patient AirLift Services, got a call to help on Sept. 25. And on Sept. 26, he was flying to Puerto Rico, with his personal Cessna Citation loaded with food, water and generators, according to the Daily Beast.

And on his return to Florida, he brought children, mothers and senior citizens who have been vetted by FEMA to safety, the Daily Beast said.

Weismann has continued to fly missions, including one to Dominica, from his current base in Florida, the Daily Beast said.

Patient AirLift Services, which coordinates humanitarian flights, organized the trips taken by Weismann and other volunteer pilots to bring relief to Puerto Rico and other islands in the Caribbean, the Daily Beast said.
