Rose Marie Dwyer, 69, Shelton Resident

SHELTON, Conn. —  Rose Marie Costa Dwyer of Shelton died May 6 at Bridgeport Hospital after an automobile accident on Route 110 in Shelton. She was 69.

Born in Bridgeport on Aug. 26, 1946, she was a daughter of Joseph and Jennie Varvella Costa. Before retiring, Rose Marie Dwyer was the admissions director at Watermark at 3030 Park in Bridgeport. 

Raised in Bridgeport, Dwyer did volunteer work at the Sheehan Center and then dedicated her heart to helping others by working in the medical field for over 35 years. 

Her accomplishments included working in the Emergency Room, running a women's clinic and working at DaVita Bridgeport Dialysis. 

Her "second hometown" of Monroe was also home to her second career: She opened and ran "Rosie's Deli" for several years before returning to the medical profession. 

She was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport and ran the reunions for her class. 

In addition to her husband Joseph Dwyer of 48 years, she is survived by her children, Kevin and Corey Dwyer; two grandchildren, Kayla and Colin Dwyer; brother Joseph Costa; sister MaryAnn Brescia; and daughter-in-law Laura Dwyer. 

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Road, Trumbull, on Thursday, May 12, at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
