The woman, identified as Rebecca Abad Ramirez of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested just before 9 a.m. Monday at Walnut Hill Road and Old Shelter Rock Road, police said.

The arresting officer was dispatched on a report of an erratic driver in a white Toyota with New York plates and a bicycle rack on the back traveling north on Route 58, Bethel police said.

The officer activated lights and siren to attempt to stop the vehicle at Walnut Hill Road and Plumtrees Road, but it did not stop, police said.

The car had heavy damage to the front, side, and rear, police said.

The driver continued to travel slowly north on Walnut Hill Road for about a mile, with the car crossing the center line multiple times and striking the right shoulder twice, police said.

The car stopped on Walnut Hill Rd near Old Shelter Rock Road, and the female driver identified herself as Rebecca Abad but could provide no identification, police said.

Police determined her name is Rebecca Abad Ramirez. She failed standardized field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest at 8:55 a.m., police said.

A short time later, Bridgeport Police advised that the vehicle Abad Ramirez was driving had been reported stolen out of Bridgeport about an hour before the traffic stop in Bethel.

Abad Ramirez was charged with first-degree larceny, driving under the influence, failure to drive right and disobeying the signal of an officer, police said.

She was held on $5,000 bond for arraignment at Danbury Superior Court on Dec. 12.
