Bridgeport Father Charged With Shaking, Dragging Crying Baby

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A 29-year-old Bridgeport man was charged with throwing, dragging and shaking an 11-month-old baby to get him to stop crying in a store, according to the Connecticut Post.

Police were called to the Fallas clothing store on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport on Saturday on a report of child abuse, the Connecticut Post reported. When they met with witnesses, they were told that Carlos Suarez, 29, had been shopping with his infant son and that the boy was crying, so Suarez began screaming at him and shaking him, the Connecticut Post reported.

Witnesses also told police that Suarez threw his son in the air, dragged him along the floor, and shook him violently in an attempt to get him to stop crying, according to the Connecticut Post. The infant's mother was also present and stood by, according to the Connecticut Post.

Suarez was charged with risk of injury to a child and breach of peace and released on a $10,000 bond, the Connecticut Post reported. The infant was taken to the hospital and the Department of Children and Families was notified, according to the Connecticut Post.
