The murder of 44-year-old Ronald Simmons took place on July 2 in an apartment building near the intersection of Norman Street and Freemont Street, the Connecticut Post reported. On Wednesday morning, Walter Gonzalez turned himself in to police after learning there was a warrant for his arrest, according to the Connecticut Post.

Gonzalez was charged with murder, as well as gun charges, according to the Connecticut Post. He was held on a $1 million bond and was set to be arraigned on Wednesday, the Connecticut Post reported.

Gonzalez is accused of shooting his neighbor Simmons after a dispute, the Connecticut Post reported. It was Bridgeport's 15th homicide of 2017.
