Easton Residents Report Scam Calls From Fake 'Sheriff's Office'

EASTON, Conn. -- Easton Police are warning about a scammer calling people and claiming to be from a "sheriff's office."

The police department has received a few complaints about the phone scam. A resident reported receiving a call from the "Fairfield County Sheriff's Office," stating that they had a warrant for her arrest due to missing jury duty.

Another resident reported receiving a phone call from the "Fairfield County Sheriff's Office," stating that there is an arrest warrant out for him and his wife, police said.

There is no Fairfield County Sheriff's Office. Anyone who receives a call like these, or a call from anyone stating to be a municipal or government agency, should not give any personal information over the phone.
