In September, Jennifer Spezzano, 37, of Waterbury, was charged with stealing tools and cash from the home on Jockey Hollow Road where Garnett was house-sitting, according to police. The two women were described as friends by police.
The family returned from vacation in August and immediately noticed "big tool items" missing from their garage and cash missing from their home, police said.
Police determined that the suspects had pawned about $4,000 worth of items stolen from the home and used the homeowner's car to take items to local pawn shops, police said.
Spezzano was charged with third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, and using a motor vehicle without the owner's permission. She was released after posting $25,000 bond.
