Bridgeport Officer Steven Figueroa was on his way home on Saturday night when he saw a car driving the wrong way on a one-way street, and pulled up next to it to let the driver know, the Connecticut Post reported. At that point the driver pulled out a gun and pointed it at Figueroa and threatened to shoot him, according to the Connecticut Post.
Figueroa turned around and followed the car as it drove away, and when it stopped at the corner of Stratford Avenue and Hollister Street, he got out and pulled his own gun and ordered the driver and his passenger out, according to the Connecticut Post.
Police recovered a loaded .357 caliber handgun from the driver, later identified as 28-year-old Ricky Owens, according to the Connecticut Post. Owens was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon, threatening, criminal possession of a firearm, breach of peace, and driving the wrong way on a one-way street, and held on a $50,000 bond, the Connecticut Post reported.
His passenger, identified as 28-year-old Corey Zygmont, was charged with breach of peace and interfering with police, and released on a $5,000 bond, according to the Connecticut Post.
