SHELTON, Conn. — A New Jersey man was arrested Thursday morning on charges of beating another man with a baseball bat in the parking lot of the Hyatt House Hotel in an ongoing domestic dispute, police said.
Chadwick Adams, 28, of Pleasantville, N.J., followed his wife from New Jersey to the Bridgeport Avenue hotel, where he confronted his wife, argued with the man with her and then struck him several times with the bat before leaving the scene in a Mercury Marquis, police said.
Shelton Police, who received numerous 911 calls about the 9 a.m. incident, alerted the State Police and Adams was stopped on the Merritt Parkway about 15 minutes later, police said.
Adams was charged with first-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on Friday.
The victim, who was lying bloodied on the ground when officers arrived, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, police said. The woman was not injured in the attack, police said.
