The Webster Bank at 314 Merwin Ave., Milford, was robbed at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, March 23.
During the robbery, the suspect handed over a note and indicated that he had a bomb, police said. After he was given money, he left in a waiting older model green or gray pickup driven by another person, Milford Police said.
After video surveillance pictures of the suspect were distributed to the media, the suspect was identified by many members of the public as Robert Doyle, 32, of 2312 E. Main St., Bridgeport, police said.
An arrest warrant was obtained, and Doyle was located staying at a hotel in Stratford, police said.
When officers arrived, he barricaded himself in a room with an accomplice, who tried fleeing by jumping from a second floor balcony but was quickly apprehended by Stratford Police, police said.
Doyle was subsequently talked from the hotel room and placed under arrest, police said.
He was charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree larceny. Doyle was held on $150,000 bond and appeared in Milford Court on March 27.
