TRUMBULL, Conn. — Police were involved in a standoff with a person barricaded in an apartment in Trumbull on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The incident began before 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Royce of Trumbull off Old Town Road, near Fairchild Wheeler Magnet High School on the Bridgeport border, police said.

In a statement, Trumbull police said there was an ongoing police incident involving occupants of one apartment located within the Royce of Trumbull.

Police are being assisted by several local agencies and emergency response teams, including police from Bridgeport. Officers have a secure perimeter at the complex, police said.

Royce residents not home are advised to remain outside the complex as no one is being allowed in the main gate, police said.

Those residents of the Royce who are inside their homes should remain indoors unless directed otherwise by officers on site, police said.

The Trumbull School system is holding students who reside at the Royce at their respective schools, police said.

Fairchild Wheeler was in lockdown mode during the afternoon, and only buses were allowed on campus for student dismissal, according to the Connecticut Post.
