Jerome Downing, 39, was charged with two counts of illegal sale of narcotics, police said. He was held on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Derby Superior Court on Wednesday.

A 37-year-old Shelton man was found dead from an apparent drug overdose in his home on Sept. 17, police said. An autopsy confirmed he had overdosed on a combination of heroin and cocaine. Shelton detectives determined he bought the drugs earlier that day from Downing, police said.
