Samantha Monaco, 23, was charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle in the May 6 head-on collision that killed 69-year-old Rosemarie Dwyer, the Daily Voice reported.
She also was charged with driving under the influence, driving while using a cellphone, and failure to keep right in the fatal accident, which happened at 1:30 p.m. in front of the Sports Center of Connecticut on River Road.
Monaco crossed over into southbound lane of traffic, causing the head-on collision, police said. She had just hung up her cellphone after speaking to a friend when the crash occurred, according to the Post.
Dwyer was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Monaco turned herself in to police on Aug. 11 and was was released on $25,000 bond pending an Aug. 25 Superior Court appearance.
Monaco has several prior arrests, including on charges of burglary, larceny and tampering, according to the Connecticut Post.
