Joseph Finnegan, 20, of Laughli Road East, was charged with conspiracy to commit credit card theft, conspiracy to commit illegal use of credit card and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, police said.

He was held on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 24.

In November 2016, Westport police investigated several vehicle break-ins in the area of Soundview Drive and Fairfield Avenue.

The victim in this incident had her purse stolen and her bank advised her one of her credit cards has been used the morning after the theft, police said. The card was used to boxes of cigarettes at Exxon Mobil on Main Street, Stratford, police said.

Surveillance video and assistance from Fairfield and Trumbull police led to Finnegan, who turned himself in, police said.
