At around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, an officer pulled over a car on Main Street for a license plate violation and because the car was unregistered, police said. The officer detected the odor of marijuana, and had the driver, identified as 26-year-old Mark Sicilian of Trumbull, get out of the car, police said.
Sicilian told the officer that he was in possession of a pistol, according to police. The officer secured the weapon and searched the car based on the marijuana odor, police said. Inside the car, police discovered a baggie containing marijuana, 35 folds of heroin, a drug pipe, several prescription pills, an illegal knife, and additional pills on Sicilian himself, according to police.
Police investigated and discovered that Sicilian did possess a valid Connecticut pistol permit, but that the pistol was registered to his deceased brother, police said.
Sicilian was issued a warning for the motor vehicle violations, and was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, weapons in a motor vehicle, failure to transfer registration of a firearm, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held on a $2,500 bond and given a court date of Nov. 7.
