Shelton Fire Crews Rescue 7 After Boat Hits Rock During Fireworks

SHELTON, Conn. — Seven people were rescued after their boat struck a rock in the Housatonic River during the fireworks show Sunday night and began to take on water, according to a Facebook post from the Shelton Volunteer Fire Co.

The incident occurred on the Derby side of river, the post said. 

The seven people onboard were moved to other boats, fire officials said. No injuries were reported. 

Shelton Marine 1 Pine Rocks Marine 4 and Zodiac worked quickly to secure the boat and towed it to Beacon Point Marina for an emergency haulout, fire officials said.
