TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Police arrested a Shelton man who crashed an SUV  on a front lawn in Trumbull and then left the crash scene, leaving the vehicle's license plate and front bumper there, according to the Connecticut Post.

The owner of the Trumbull home told police that the SUV had driven across his front lawn and caused substantial damage, the Connecticut Post reported. It then crashed into a tree and fled the scene, though it left crucial identifying evidence behind, police told the Connecticut Post.

The vehicle was traced to a Craig Lane address in Shelton, where the owner said his grandson had taken the vehicle when he was sleeping, the Connecticut Post reported.

Brandon Ryan, 21, was charged with using a motor vehicle without permission and operating without a license and evading responsibility, according to the Connecticut Post.
