SHELTON, Conn. — Shelton police arrested a 20-year-old man who led them on a brief pursuit Wednesday in a stolen van filled with juveniles, police said.

Deion Lovett, of Waterbury, was charged with first-degree larceny, engaging police in pursuit and three counts of risk of injury to a minor, police said.

A 17-year-old was also charged with first-degree larceny in the case, police said.

At 4 p.m. Wednesday, a Shelton detective saw Lovett driving a Chrysler van with its rear door wide open in the downtown area, police said.

When the detective tried to stop the van, it sped off and a police pursuit ensued, ending on Route 34 in in Derby, police said.

Officers found four other juveniles in the van, which had been stolen at gunpoint in New Haven on June 12, police said.

Lovett was held on $10,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned June 23, police said.

No other arrests were expected in this case, police said.
