SHELTON, Conn. – Shelton's Curtis Ryan Honda believes in keeping Connecticut's Police safe – even the officers and troopers who serve on four legs.

The Honda dealership is sponsoring a bulletproof vest for Ugo, who has assigned to Trooper Pieter Groot since 2014 and works at Troop C in Tolland.

Ugo is a four-year-old German Shepherd and trained in all aspects of handler protection, evidence recovery, building searches and tracking.

The K9 vest will have "Donated by Curtiss Ryan Honda - Blue Paws Matter" embroidered on the side.

CONNECTICUT STATE POLICE K-9S TO RECEIVE BODY ARMOR — Connecticut State Police’s K9 Ugo and K9 Texas will each receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

K9 Ugo’s vest is sponsored by Curtiss Ryan Honda of Shelton and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Donated by Curtiss Ryan Honda - Blue Paws Matter,” while K9 Texas’s vest is sponsored by a fundraiser hosted by Beacon Valley Animal Hospital, Naugatuck and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Blue Paws Matter.”
