At about 2:45 p.m. Monday, troopers were dispatched to I-95 north in the area just south of Exit 27 on a report of a man walking along the shoulder of the highway, state police said.

Travis Simmons, 35, was "aggressive and noncompliant" when troopers arrived, state police said. They ended up deploying a Taser, which was ineffective, state police said.

Multiple troopers arrived to subdue Simmons on the side of I-95 and struggled with him until he was subdued and arrested, state police said.

One trooper suffered minor injuries, and Simmons was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for evaluation, state police said.

Once cleared at the hospital, Simmons was taken to Troop G, where state police discovered he was on probation.

Simmons, of 98 Highland Ave., was then charged with reckless use of a highway by a pedestrian,  interfering with an officer and second-degree violation of conditions of release.

He was held on $10,000 bond to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Tuesday, July 25.
