The Westport Police Department received a complaint from a juvenile in August who said that they had been sexually assaulted by a tutor over a period of time. The tutor was identified as 40-year-old Juan Torres Jr. of Waterbury, police said.
The juvenile victim further reported that Torres had taken nude photos of them, according to police.
On Saturday, Sept. 9, Westport detectives executed a search warrant on Torres's home in Waterbury, where they discovered evidence that corroborated the juvenile's story, police said. Torres was taken into custody later that evening at the Waterbury Police Department.
Torres was charged with 12 counts of risk of injury to a child, 10 counts of second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree sexual assault.
Torres was released after posting a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 18.
