Bryan Sanchez-Castillo, 29, of Dayton Road, was charged with third-degree assault, breach of peace and interfering with an emergency call, police said.
Around 8 p.m., Westport officers were dispatched on a report of a domestic dispute in a Westport roadway, police said.
The victim said she tried to call 911 because the argument she was having with Sanchez-Castillo had become physical and he grabbed her and threw her to the ground, police said.
Westport EMS treated the victim for minor injuries at the scene.
A witness also saw the incident, police said.
Sanchez-Castillo was held on $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 18.
