At around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, police were dispatched to the area of 397 Post Road East on a report of an intoxicated female. An officer checked the area and located 35-year-old Amy LaFrance of West Haven on the west side of the CVS building, police said. She was walking barefoot and staggering, and appeared to be intoxicated, according to police.
LaFrance became visibly upset and said that she did not want to be in any trouble, police said. The officer said that she was not in trouble and that they just wanted to get her a ride home, but she became extremely uncooperative and began walking away from officers, police said.
Officers yelled at her to stop, at which point she fell to the pavement and started screaming, police said. An ambulance was called to the scene due to her high level of intoxication, and when EMS arrived LaFrance tried to run away, according to police.
Officers grabbed her and she began to break free, police said. As they brought her to the ambulance, she pulled away and kicked an officer in the stomach, according to police. She was then assisted to the ground and placed in handcuffs before being taken to the hospital, police said.
A warrant was issued for her arrest, and she turned her self in on Tuesday, Sept. 5. She was charged with breach of peace and interfering with an officer, and released on a $500 bond. She was given a court date of Sept. 13.
