Brandon Fitzgerald, 22, of Meadow Street, was charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny, police said.

On June 6, an officer was called to the YMCA after a victim reported he left his car keys on a locker room bench and they were missing when he came back to get them, police said.

Surveillance video showed a man entered the YMCA and left a short time later without having worked out, police said.

The man was seen entering the victim’s car and then going to a tan Nissan Altima and driving away.

Police traced the car to Fitzgerald from the license plate visible in the video.

An officer interviewed Fitzgerald, who admitted he entered the car and stole $60, police said.

He was arrested on a warrant Thursday and was held in lieu of bond. Fitzgerald also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear stemming from motor vehicle charges.

He is expected to appear in court on Sept. 21.
