SHELTON, CONN. -- Shelton students are eating up lessons on growing their own veggies, say two teachers, according to a report in the Shelton Herald.

Eric Wolf and Bob Yamnicky are showing kids the ins and outs of alternative farming, taking them full-cycle from the raising of fish and quail, whose waste is used to fertilize the plants, to the actual harvesting of lettuce and other produce, the Shelton Herald story said.

The ultimate goal – besides teaching kids where their lunch comes from – is to provide food for the Shelton Intermediate School’s cafeteria, the Shelton Herald reported.
