BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — There was a 7-mile backup on I-95 northbound due to a jackknifed tractor-trailer in Bridgeport on early Monday afternoon, according to the Department of Transportation.
The accident occurred between Exits 28 and 29, and the traffic jam was extending back 7 miles to Exit 19 in Fairfield by 1:30 p.m.
At first, all the lanes were closed on I-95, but the left two lanes reopened as the truck was moved partially to the side of the highway.
The crash was reported Monday just after noon, DOT said.
No injuries were reported, but the fuel tank on the tractor-trailer was breached, police said.
State police were able to open the left and center lanes by about 1:40 p.m., but urged drivers to reduce speeds in the area.
As of 2 p.m., the two right lanes were still blocked by the truck.
