Tropical Storm Watch Dropped For Fairfield County As Jose Moves East

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The Tropical Storm Watch has been dropped for Fairfield County as Jose moves northward but farther out to sea, according to the National Weather Service.

The change in the path of the storm was announced Monday evening by the National Weather Service.

The watch has also been discontinued for Nassau and Westchester Counties in New York but remains in effect for Eastern Long Island and southeastern Connecticut, including New Haven, Middlesex and New London Counties.

Hurricane Jose will continue to track slowly north through the western Atlantic waters through midweek, passing to the southeast of the area late Tuesday night and into Wednesday as a tropical storm.

It forecast to weaken as it passes southeast of Long Island on Wednesday as a Tropical Storm.

The storm “will be close enough for potential impacts, including tropical storm force winds, coastal flooding, and heavy rainfall. The best chance for tropical storm conditions will be across the Twin Forks of Suffolk County, Long Island, and coastal southeast Connecticut.”

For Fairfield County, showers are likely for Tuesday. It will be cloudy, with a high near 72 and northeast winds of 14 to 17 mph. The chance of rain is 60 percent.

There is a 50 percent chance of showers Tuesday night, with a low of 65 degrees and a north wind 20 to 23 mph.

On Wednesday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. It will be breezy, with a north wind of 18 to 24 mph.

The sun will return Thursday, with a high near 81 degrees.
