The Buzz Truck, a 4-year-old coffee-on-the-go venture based in Fairfield, operates out of a small black school bus and travels to special events and meetings.

“We're primarily a 'for hire' truck. We cater anything from PTA meetings to broker open houses to 40th birthday parties to weddings — and everything in between," said Jessica Grutkowski of Fairfield, who owns the business with her husband, Alex.

The bus, which exclusively serves organic, locally roasted coffee from Shearwater Organic Coffee Roasters in Trumbull, is in business from April through November.

"We are excited to be here. I love meeting new people and I think coffee is such a good reward," she said.

The pastries on the Buzz Truck are sure to delight. They come from a variety of local bakeries, including Lovely Cakes of Stratford — the owner won Cupcake Wars — as well as Stratford-based Donut Crazy.

The Buzz Truck  also serves cold-brewed iced coffee when it's hot and iced tea from Tea, Leaf & Ardor, a Fairfield-based brand with organic loose leaf artisan teas.

Where can you find the Buzz Truck?

"Sometimes we're parked outside local shops like Groove, The Beehive or Millie Rae's for special shopping days, or at places like the Pequot Library, Fairfield Town Hall or Fairfield Theater Company for events," she said.

The idea for The Buzz Truck began one day in 2013 when Jessica was late picking up her twins -- who are now 8 -- from preschool.

"I was waiting in line at Starbucks and I thought to myself there has to be a mobile truck for grown-ups like an ice cream truck -- and the idea for The Buzz Truck just came to my mind," said Grutkowski.
