SHELTON, Conn. — The weather outside was frightfully unpredictable this spring, but farmers at Jones Family Farms say it didn’t stop the 2017 strawberry crop from flourishing.
“After 50 years in the business, this spring has been perhaps the most changeable weather for our strawberries,” said Terry Jones. “If you had asked me in late April, I would have guessed we’d not see berries ripe until the end of June!”
But Jones says the berries are peaking this week and next.
Those visiting the farm for pick-your-own fun can take the Berry Ferry wagon ride out to the fields and get free recipes when they return with their haul.
