FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Turkeys and other supplies for Thanksgiving dinner may be dropped off at several Connecticut Food Bank sites, including Fairfield, Shelton and Stamford at certain dates in November.
The Food Bank relies on community food drives and special programs in November to stock its pantry for the holiday meals.
Media outlets and businesses have planned special drives to contribute food and money, said a release.
The Food Bank, via community-based food assistance programs, provides nutritious food to people in six Connecticut counties, including Fairfield.
On average, 150,000 people who meet "basic needs for food" in Connecticut visit the sites, said the organization.
“At a time when we all hope to give thanks for good fortune, many people struggle just to make ends meet,” said Connecticut Food Bank CEO Bernie Beaudreau.
Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Star 99.9 FM Food and Fund Drive, Stop & Shop, 898 Bridgeport Ave., Shelton
Nov. 14-22, 8:30 a.m. to 4 :30 p.m., drop off frozen turkeys, non-perishable foods and funds at the CT Food Bank offices at 74 Linwood Ave., Fairfield.
Frozen turkeys, nonperishables and financial donations may be dropped off during business hours, Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Nov. 14 to 22 at the Connecticut Food Bank, 2 Research Parkway, Wallingford and Food Bank's Fairfield warehouse, 74 Linwood Ave., Fairfield.
Donations of turkey and "the fixings" may may be dropped off in Stamford, Saturday, Nov. 19, at Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, 461 Glenbrook Road, Stamford.
Donations can also be dropped off Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Stamford location.
