SHELTON, Conn. -- Families in need of shelter, food, and services find respite at Spooner House where support recently came from Griffin Hospital in a $8,000 donation.
The money came from the 6th annual "Wonderland of Trees" fundraiser and will be used for local families this winter.
The effort called upon hospital departments to decorate three-foot, artificial evergreens, that were then given away in a raffle. Over the six years, the tree fundraiser raised $37,900.
Spooner House annually provides emergency shelter for about 200 people; 36,200 meals to local residents, 5,000, self-help services and 2,500 meetings with case managers for guidance, support, and caring.
