Ramon L. Killings is accused of selling heroin to the 33-year-old victim’s boyfriend in early December, according to Deirdre M. Daly, U.S. attorney for Connecticut.
Court documents said that both she and her boyfriend injected the heroin the next day.
The following morning police got a 911 call from an unidentified address and the woman’s body was found in a bedroom, Daly said. She had apparently overdosed, Daly said.
Police seized wax folds containing suspected heroin, a hypodermic needle and other drug paraphernalia, Daly said.
Killings was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 18, on a federal charge of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, heroin. He was arrested under a statewide initiative that targets narcotics dealers who distribute heroin, fentanyl or other opioids that kill or seriously injure users, Daly said.
Killings appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge William I. Garfinkel in Bridgeport and was ordered detained.
According to court documents, undercover law enforcement agents bought heroin from Killings in December and this month. Police said that when Killings had heroin and crack in his possession when he was arrested, Daly said.
If convicted, he could face up to 20 years behind bars.
Michael J. Ferguson, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England, joined Daly in announcing the arrest.
The investigation is being handled by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and the Stratford Police Department. The task force includes personnel from the Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, Milford and Bridgeport Police Departments, and the Connecticut State Police.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas P. Morabito.
