SHELTON, Conn. — A 22-year-old Stratford man who works at a moving company has been charged with stealing a gun from a home in Shelton, police said.
On April 28, the Shelton Police Department arrested Anthony David Trotta and charged him with theft of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm.
Officers were notified of the larceny by the resident of a Shelton home who was in the process of moving, police said.
The resident said that he when went to retrieve his firearm — to personally move it to his new residence — it was gone, police said.
The resident immediately notified police, who were able to quickly recover the firearm, which was found hidden down the street in the woods, police said.
Detectives interviewed employees of moving company and determined that Trotta was involved in the theft, police said.
More arrests are expected in this investigation, police said.
