Shelton Police Make 2 Drug Arrests Downtown

SHELTON, Conn. — Two Shelton residents were arrested after an undercover detective witnessed a drug buy in a downtown parking lot Thursday morning that involved heroin, police said.

The incident occurred at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, in a parking lot at Bridgeport Avenue and Perry Hill Road, police said. 

The detective stopped the woman, identified as Kari Franco, 45, of Howe Avenue, Shelton, police said. Several folds of heroin were discovered in her possession, police said. 

After further investigation, detectives identified Joshua Roman, 20, of Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton, as the man who sold the heroin to her, police said.

Franco was arrested and charged with illegal possession of heroin and released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 10 in Derby. 

Roman was also arrested and charged with possession of heroin with intent to sell and possession of heroin within 1,500 feet of a school. He was released on $10,000 bond with a court date of Feb. 18.

Shelton Police are continuing to investigate drug dealing in town and are asking anyone with any information to contact the police department at 203-924-1544. Calls may be confidential.

Last week, undercover officers arrested two Shelton residents on drug and weapons charges after they witnessed a hand-to-hand drug transaction downtown in the commuter parking lot at Canal and Cornell streets. Click here to read more about those arrests on the Daily Voice.
