State Police Plan DUI Roving Patrols, Spot Checks Along Route 8

SHELTON, Conn. -- State Police troopers will conduct roving patrols and spot checks in several towns, including Shelton Thursday to Christmas night, according to Connecticut State Police.

Connecticut State Police will conduct roving patrols and spot checks for the Christmas holiday weekend, beginning Thursday evening, to identify drivers operating under the influence.

The patrols will be conducted on Route 8 in Shelton, Interstate 91 and Route 15 in the North Haven area, and Interstate 691 in Meriden.

The patrols are part of the Christmas holiday weekend effort by State Police to identify drivers who are operating vehicles under the influence of liquor and/or drugs. 

The roving DUI patrols will be in operation for several hours. 

State troopers will be stopping vehicles for moving violations, as well as equipment violations, in order to locate operators driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

In addition, a spot check will be conducted on I-91 in New Haven Dec. 23 during the evening hours.
