Two Injured In Car Crash & Explosion Overnight In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. — Two people who suffered burns in a car explosion overnight in Danbury were sent to the hospital for treatment, fire officials said.

A car rolled over, exploded and was destroyed by fire in an accident at about 3:40 a.m. Saturday near 167 Long Ridge Road, said James Gagliardo, public information officer for the Danbury Fire Department.

The Danbury Fire Department's “A” shift companies were dispatched and found the car totally engulfed in flames, Gagliardo said. 

Two occupants who suffered burns were transported to Danbury Hospital's emergency department, he said.

The crash scene on Long Ridge Road is near the border with West Redding.

No further information was released on the accident or on the condition of the victims.

Units assigned to the incident were E22, E26, C30, Truck 1, Squad 1, Tanker 12, City of Danbury EMS, DPD and Public Works, Gagliardo said.
